Appleton Estate maintains sugar cane plantations and distilleries in Jamaica (in the middle of the Nassau Valley), where rum has been produced since 1749.
This 15-year-old Appleton is named after the Black River in Jamaica. From this river Appleton uses the water for the production of their rums. The idea for the River Cask came from Joy Spencer, who celebrated her 40th anniversary at Appleton at the same time. Since Joy Spencer was also responsible for the production of the River Cask, it is also called Master Blender, which stands for the highest quality standards.
The taste is reminiscent of coffee, vanilla and notes of nuts and almonds.
All in all, a full-bodied, intense taste and a very soft finish.
