Appleton Estate maintains sugar cane plantations and distilleries in Jamaica (in the middle of the Nassau Valley), where rum has been produced since 1749.Appleton Estate has been producing genuine Jamaican rum since 1749 and is the oldest distillery in Jamaica.

For the Appleton Estate 8 Years Reserve Rum, molasses rum matures for six to eight years in oak barrels in Jamaica's tropical climate. For distillation of the molasses, Appleton continues to use pot stills and column stills.

Fine oak and leather notes with hints of nutmeg and some spicy smokiness rise to the nose. Rounding out the multi-layered aromatics are sweet honey and caramel notes with nutty aromas and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, one perceives fruity notes of a freshly baked fruitcake. The rich flavors of dried and candied fruits, as well as orange zest are carried over the long finish.
