Ardbeg is a whiskey distillery on the south shore of the island of Islay (Scotland).
The Scottish Islay distillery Ardbeg has announced a new series: Ardbeg Anthology is the name of the series, which contains experimental single malt whiskies from special casks.
The first release, Ardbeg The Harpy's Tale, was the start of a three-part series. The whisky matured for 13 years in two types of casks and was then combined: Sauternes and ex-bourbon casks were selected here. An ultimate Ardbeg that creates an interplay of intense smoke and rich sweetness.
Present notes of extra virgin olive oil, herbs such as coriander and sage and a hint of smoky lemon peel are perceived on the nose. On the palate, this Ardbeg is smooth and slightly oily with a rich, sweet smoky flavor. Flavors of oak moss, molasses, aniseed sugar with beautiful sweet wood notes, followed by smoky apricot and eucalyptus oil are also present here. The finish is long-lasting, sweet, smoky, with spices such as cumin.
