Ballantine had his business in the South Bridge area near Princes Street in Edinburgh in 1837. There he experimented mixing malt and grain whiskeys of different ages from different distilleries to create a slightly lighter, more refined product This is how the excellent and various Ballantine whiskeys were created.
This Ballantine's 23 Year Old Whiskey is a rare release aged in American oak barrels. This Scotch whiskey matures in barrels for at least 23 years until it reaches the quality that the blenders need to process it into this exquisite whiskey.
Fruity aromas with a little blossom honey and the finest bourbon vanilla rise to the nose. On the palate it is very soft with a perfectly balanced sweetness and a hint of juicy pears with a slight hint of dark berries. The finish is very long and warm.
