Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak is a limited edition debut from the Balvenie distillery. It is the distillery's first single malt whiskey to be aged in former French oak. The barrels used were previously filled with Pineau des Charentes wine. It is a wine made from the must of unfermented grapes and aged with cognac.
The aroma is perfectly balanced between floral, fresh grass and hints of apple. In the nose it rises with wonderful floral notes of lotus and geranium, plus notes of meadow grass and apple peel. On the palate, this Scotch is balanced with vibrant citrus flavors filling the palate and accompanied by smooth notes of grapefruit, sweetness and a spiciness. The finish is long and full.
