Barceló is a rum from the Dominican Republic. Julian Barceló founded in 1930 in Santo Domingo the company Barceló & Co. The brand became one of the largest rum Destilleria of the Caribbean.
Barceló Gran Añejo Dark is a Dominican rum with 37.5% vol. This bottling is part of the Dark Series by Ron Barceló and combines a mild rum character with darker cask notes, caramelised sweetness and fine spice.
The rum is made from Dominican sugarcane juice and matured in highly toasted barriques. After blending rums aged for up to 6 years, the mixture is harmonised through a complex cooling process according to the producer.
On the nose, it shows caramelised vanilla, creamy chocolate, fine tobacco notes and citrus hints. On the palate, Barceló Gran Añejo Dark is rounded, mild and fruity with vanilla, chocolate, caramel, light spice and a pleasantly smooth body.
The finish is fruity, mild and persistent. Barceló Gran Añejo Dark can be enjoyed over ice or used as an aromatic base for rum cocktails and long drinks.
