Benriach is a whiskey distillery near Elgin, Scotland, UK. Since 1998, the Speysiders have been experimenting with triple distillation in pot stills, which is supposed to give the raw brandy an even fruitier and spicier character.
The Benriach 12 year old single malt whiskey was allowed to mature in three different casks. Sherry, port wine and bourbon casks give the whiskey a fruity, spicy, full-bodied taste.
The aroma varies between fruity components combined with wild berries and spicy maple syrup aromas. Aromas of cocoa and mocha beans are also clearly visible in the background.
