Caol Ila Distillery is a whiskey distillery on the Scottish island of Islay.
This bottling of the Caol Ila belongs to the Distillers Edition of the Classic Malts of Scotland. Caol Ila Distillers Edition 2022 first matured in ex-bourbon casks. The single malt was then allowed to mature in seasoned Moscatel and post-charred American oak barrels.
Malty sweet and creamy nutty notes rise to the nose, accompanied by dry herbs, a light smoky note and a maritime freshness. On the palate, the Caol Ila is nutty and notes of ripe grapes and oak are noticeable. The finish is long and is accompanied by a light spice.
