The distillery was built in 1897 and was first called Strathspey. When the owners went bankrupt, A. P. Blyth bought the distillery for his son and named it Dalwhinnie. The whiskey from the Scottish Highlands is stored in the highest distillery in Scotland, where they have remained true to the old traditions. For example, no other distillery is allowed to use the water from the 600-metre-high Lochan at Doire Uaine in the Drumochter Hills. The composition of tradition and wild, cold origin makes the whisky a clear, easily accessible drink with a malty-sweet taste.
Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition 2022 first matured in oak casks before being allowed to mature further in Oloroso sherry casks. Hints of heather, wild honey, delicate spices and a hint of hazelnut rise to the nose, ripe and fruity. On the palate, there is an aromatic spice note, brown sugar, ripe bananas and pears. A delicate nuttiness and oak notes are also present here.
