Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery was first planned in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar and is the only Scotch whiskey distillery built by the Dewar family. The whiskey distillery is based in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland. Dewar's was already a very successful blended whiskey brand, known for its quality, and the company needed more single malt whiskey to blend.
Dewar's 12 Year Old is a double aged blended Scotch whiskey. The additional years of aging in oak barrels result in a richer, fuller flavor and finely rounded aromas.
Notes of honey, dried fruit and vanilla fill the air. Toffee and a hint of smoke is also noticed. Notes of fresh cake fill the air and give way to a fruity, sweet taste. Honey, sultanas and fresh lemon with a hint of vanilla are noticeable on the palate. The finish is long with rich notes of melted caramel and oak.
