Flor de Caña is a premium rum brand headquartered in Managua, Nicaragua. In 1890, the company found the perfect setting for the Flor de Caña distillery at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano, the highest and most active volcano in Nicaragua. The fertility of the surrounding areas, the mineral-rich water, and the hot volcanic climate have all contributed to shaping the rum’s unique and smooth flavor. Flor de Caña rum is distilled five times during production. Each rum is aged in a charred oak barrel that was previously used to age bourbon whiskey and is also produced according to kosher standards. The company’s rum varieties are aged for up to 25 years.
This 15 year old rum from Nicaragua combines extended maturation with a pleasantly smooth and balanced character. During its time in American white oak bourbon barrels, it develops a layered aroma with warm oak notes and gentle spices.
The aroma reveals roasted nuts, caramel and vanilla. Dark chocolate, oak and delicate spices follow on the palate. The finish is smooth, rounded and pleasantly persistent.
Flor de Caña 15 Year Old Rum is particularly enjoyable neat at room temperature or served with a single ice cube. The generous 1 litre bottle offers plenty of opportunity to explore its mature character.
