Founded in 1825 in the town of Brechin, Glencadam is the only remaining distillery in the 'Kingdom' of Angus.
This is a limited bottling from the master distiller. In 2006, he skillfully combined single malt whiskey distilled in hand-selected bourbon casks for cognac cask aging. French Limousin oak "Charentes casks" add depth and complexity to Glen Cardan Single Malt, reflected in flavors such as peanut sugar, lemon oil and cigar spice.Notes of roasted chestnuts and peanut brittle rise on the nose with notes of sweet bramble and summer fruit pudding. On the palate, layers of soft almond nougat, mocha and fresh crepes combine with lemon oil, hazelnut cream and warming baking spices. The finish is slightly savory and warming with dark berry fruit leading to ground coffee and lingering cigar spiciness.
