Glenfarclas is a whiskey distillery in Ballindalloch, Moray, Scotland, UK. Glenfarclas has been owned and managed by only one family, the Grants of Glenfarclas, since 1865. Glenfarclas whiskeys are made almost exclusively in former sherry casks (Oloroso There is a very large range of different bottlings from the distillery itself. There is hardly any other distillery that has as many high quality and old whiskeys in their storage as Glenfarclas.
Glenfarclas 2011/2020 matured in previously dry, smooth and nutty Oloroso sherry casks for about nine years. This gives the whiskey the perfect taste aroma.
A sweet sherry aroma fills the air. There are also aromas of sweet malt, herbal sweets, juicy apples and gooseberries. On the palate one perceives sweet and malty notes with hints of dates and red fruits. The taste is rounded off with notes of pralines, dark chocolate, grated orange peel and Christmas spices. There is a lot of sherry in the finish.
