Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1875 by Colonel James Moir and became known for producing very fine whiskey. Glenglassaugh was shut down until December 2008 when the distillery was bought by a group of investors. Glenglassaugh has been owned by the Benriach Distillery Company since 2013. In 2016, Brown-Forman acquired Glenglassaugh Distillery along with Glendronach and Benriach Distilleries.This Scottish single malt whiskey was distilled with properly peated malt barley and then matured in octave barrels.
The perfect balance of peat, smoke, rich sweetness and additional sea notes fill the nose. Everything gets more sophisticated with salted caramel and chocolate. The taste is very rich and yet soft and velvety. On the palate it is very complex, with notes of apricot, ginger and smoked bacon. The finish is long-lasting. Smoky-sweet roasted nuts, wood smoke and sweet syrup accompany you as you enjoy.
