Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1875 by Colonel James Moir and became known for producing very fine whiskey. Glenglassaugh was shut down until December 2008 when the distillery was bought by a group of investors. Glenglassaugh has been owned by the Benriach Distillery Company since 2013. In 2016, Brown-Forman acquired Glenglassaugh Distillery along with Glendronach and Benriach Distilleries.
The Glenglassaugh Revival gets its perfectly balanced aroma profile from aging in ex-red wine and fresh bourbon casks. The Glenglassaugh Revival then gets another maturation in rich sherry casks.
Sweet notes of toffee, sherry, honey, milk chocolate, red berries, ripe plums and oranges fill the air. There are also slight smoky notes of charred oak. On the palate it is sweet and creamy. Aromas of oranges, plums, cherries and walnuts blend together with notes of chocolate, honey - mead, sherry and spiced oak. The finish is medium-long with notes of sherry, spices and caramel.
