Glenlivet is a whiskey distillery near Ballindalloch, Moray, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1824 as the first legal distillery under the Act of Excise of 1823 by George Smith. The distillery has one mash tun and eight fermentation vats. For The Glenlivet American oak barrels are used in which, for example, sherry or bourbon has already been stored and which give the whiskey its own aroma.
This "Glenlivet XXV 25 years" comes from a single distillery and is therefore not a blend of several whiskeys. It is currently the oldest original Glenlivet bottling on the market. This special spirit was matured in Oloroso sherry casks for 25 years.
In the nose and on the palate one perceives strong sherry notes, various spices and notes of fruits such as raisins and dried apricots. You also notice a light caramel and honey sweetness.
