Glenlivet is a whiskey distillery near Ballindalloch, Moray, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1824 as the first legal distillery under the Act of Excise of 1823 by George Smith. The distillery has one mash tun and eight fermentation vats. For The Glenlivet American oak barrels are used in which, for example, sherry or bourbon has already been stored and which give the whiskey its own aroma.
This whiskey is inspired by the long tradition of whiskey distillery at Glenlivet Distillery, where the malted grain was originally dried with peat smoke. This unique addition to the Glenlivet range is aged in barrels that previously contained heavily peated Scottish whiskey.
The balance of fresh, ripe fruit, sweet vanilla cream and delicate wood smoke is perfect here. The taste is rich honey and subtle vanilla flavors, with a sweet, pungent smokiness. The finish is long and mature, with lively notes of fresh fruit and spicy smoke.
