Glenmorangie is a whiskey distillery in Tain in the Northern Highlands of Scotland and probably one of the most famous whiskey distilleries. The malt used in the production is unpeated so that no smoke aromas detract from the mild fruity character of the Glenmorangie whiskey. The distillery uses Mainly American oak barrels. First, the raw spirit is filled in (mostly first fill) bourbon barrels for 10 years. Then the whiskey is decanted into bourbon barrels, sherry barrels, port pipes or Sauternes barrels for the finish. Glenmorangie achieves a great variability in the whiskey range.
The only slightly smoky version in Glenmorangie's portfolio. A tribute to days gone by when all Highland whiskeys were made with peated barley malt. A marriage of peated and unpeated barley malt, matured in American ex-Bourbon barrels. A three-dimensional whiskey that combines Glenmorangie's famous finesse with the flavor of the wood and subtle smoke.
Aromas of fresh flowers, light smokiness and a hint of creamy vanilla fill the air. This whiskey is lightly peated, with piquant, balanced notes.
