Gold of Mauritius is a rum creation from the paradise island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
Gold of Mauritius Black 48 Edition is a powerful rum from Mauritius. This bottling is a more intense interpretation of the well known Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum and is bottled at 48% vol.
The base is molasses rum from Mauritius. Its style is based on Gold of Mauritius Dark, which according to retailer information matures for 8 to 12 months in casks previously used for port wine, brandy and South African sweet wines. The higher strength gives the Black 48 Edition more depth, volume and expression.
On the nose, it shows roasted nuts, juicy plums, ripe bananas and dark sweetness. On the palate, the rum is rich, smooth and creamy with almonds, ripe plums, oak and warm cask notes.
The finish is long, intense and aromatic. Gold of Mauritius Black 48 Edition is especially suited for sipping neat at room temperature or over one large ice cube.
