Isle of Jura is a whiskey distillery based in Craighouse on the Isle of Jura, Scotland, UK. Originally founded in 1810, the distillery was reborn in 1963, revitalizing a local community.
This is a single malt whiskey that was given a wine finish in the 40-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry barrel. At the end of the journey, in the heart of the island, you will find the Holy Mountain, the Mountain of Sound and the Mountain of Gold. These are the three mountains (Paps) of the island of Jura, which tower for miles over the landscape. Aged in American White Oak Ex-Bourbon casks, the 19-year-old "" The Paps "" gets its complexity from hand-picked 40-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Aromas of gingerbread and vanilla fill the air. In terms of taste, notes of balsamic vinegar, spiced pear and fig syrup are perceived. The finish is light and elegant.
