Kilchoman is one of Scotland's younger whisky distilleries and one of nine active whisky distilleries on the Hebridean island of Islay in Scotland.
Known as Islay's Farm Distillery, the barley fields extend west to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Kilchoman is unique in many ways, especially for its 100% Islay range, Islay's only single farm single malt.
Coull Point is a whisky made from bourbon casks and oloroso sherry casks.
A very distinct Kilchoman peat profile rises to the nose - smoky and sweet with vanilla and apples. On the palate one picks up notes of sweet peat, vanilla and honey followed by a second wave of muck, soot and spices that become a bit bitter towards the end. At the finish one perceives notes of ash and smoke, where notes of used ground coffee are added.
