The story of Label 5 begins in 1934 in France. At that time, Jean Cayard founded La Martiniquaise, a company that imported and distributed rum. At that time, La Martiniquaise bought the Glen Moray distillery from Glenmorangie. Their malt was to be an important part of the blend. A few years later (2004), the company became a millionaire brand, making Label 5 one of the 10 best-selling whiskies in the world. Another important ingredient in the blend comes from Starlaw Distillery, which opened in Bathgate in 2010. Several other varieties such as Sir Edward's and Glen Turner are also bottled here.
