The Scottish Speyside distillery Mortlach was founded in 1823 and is thus the first legal distillery in Speyside. It produces an incredibly complex single malt whiskey in an unusual way with a 2.8-fold distillation.
The 20-year-old single malt whiskey was stored in former sherry and refilled whiskey barrels.
Elegant with dried fruits, cedar wood, leather and tobacco notes rise into the nose. On the palate you can perceive aromatic citrus fruits, oak and spices. This is followed by notes of berries and cocoa. In the finish, notes of gingerbread, raisins and a hint of liquorice emerge.
