The Scottish Speyside distillery Mortlach was founded in 1823 and is thus the first legal distillery in Speyside. It produces an incredibly complex single malt whiskey in an unusual way with a 2.8-fold distillation.
This Mortlach was allowed to mature in American oak barrels and European oak barrels.
In addition to the meaty taste typical of Mortlach, there is a perfect balance of fruity, sweet and malty smoky notes. You can also perceive aromas of vanilla and raisins. You can also see fruity orange tones and something chocolatey. Light tobacco notes give the whiskey a slightly tart side.
