Mount Gay Distilleries Limited is a Rumbrennerei in Barbados in the Caribbean. The brown Caribbean rum from Barbados is one of the novelties of Mount Gay.
This pot-still rum matured for around ten years in Jim Beam ex-bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of the Caribbean island. The result is a very multi-faceted rum.
The nose combines sweet notes of butterscotch and toffee with fruity notes of ripe plums. On the palate, there is a slight spiciness, followed by notes of ripe dried fruit, the sweetness of dark chocolate and a hint of oak. The Mount Gay has a silky texture on the palate and a smooth finish.
