Oliver & Oliver is a family owned rum producer of Cuban origin based in the Dominican Republic. The company specialises in aged rums and uses the Solera method for many of its bottlings.
Opthimus Summa Cum Laude 25 is a mature rum from the Dominican Republic. This bottling comes from Oliver & Oliver and represents the particularly refined top expression within the Cum Laude range.
Selected distillates matured for up to 25 years are used for this rum. According to retailer information, they come from a strictly limited selection of the highest rated casks. Maturation takes place in medium toasted French oak casks and former bourbon casks made from American white oak.
On the nose, it shows vanilla, honey, sugar cane, ripe fruit, tobacco and fine wood notes. On the palate, Opthimus Summa Cum Laude 25 is full bodied and layered with oak, orange, banana, caramel, spices and gentle sweetness.
The finish is smooth, balanced and pleasantly long. Thanks to its mature character, this rum is especially suited for sipping neat at room temperature.
