The "Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd." is one of the four largest independent whiskey bottlers in Scotland, which was founded in 1936. The founder, Leonard J. Russel Sr., began buying high-quality casks that suited his or his customers' tastes from a wide variety of distilleries. Nothing has changed in this philosophy. The purchased casks remain with the respective distilleries until they have matured and are only transferred to their own warehouses for bottling.

When bottling the Shieldaig whiskeys, the focus is exclusively on uniqueness and quality. The result are individualists that are already considered rarities.

Located in the Scottish Highlands, the village of Shieldaig is considered one of Scotland's most picturesque villages. Delightfully smooth and refined, Shieldaig evokes the majestic splendor of this wondrous Highland region. Schieldaig has been matured exclusively in selected American oak casks to achieve a wonderfully creamy, vanilla, honey and citrus aroma. They selected three high-quality cask types, first-fill and re-fill bourbon casks, and American Oak Hogshead.

Notes of citrus fruits, malt flour, vanilla cake and sweet cinnamon fill the air. The palate is smooth, elegant and buttery with sweet fruit and a silky sweetness. The finish is elegant with a delicate spice.
