Scapa is a whiskey distillery in St Ola on the Scapa Flow on the island of Mainland Orkney, Scotland, United Kingdom. The Scapa Distillery is the only one in Scotland to produce with Lomond Stills. The exception is Bruichladdich, where the Lomond Still is used to produce gin. Lomond stills are an intermediate form of continuous and pot stills. The Lomond still has a cylindrical shape and movable internal copper plates.
This whiskey was allowed to mature in American oak casks and ex-bourbon casks, which is how it develops its full range of flavors. Floral, sweet and fruity notes rise on the nose. On the palate you can perceive aromas of heather honey and soft fruits, with hints of vanilla, caramel and sweetish smoke. A perfectly balanced whisky.
