The Tobermory Distillery is located in the town of the same name on the Isle of Mull, one of the Inner Hebridean Islands off the west coast of Scotland. The distillery was originally founded in 1798 by John Sinclair under the name "Ledaig". Burn Stewart Distillers acquired Tobermory in 1993. Since 2013, Burn Stewart Distillers has been part of the Distell Group Limited in South Africa. Today, the name "Tobermory" stands for the distillery's unpeated whiskies.
The 21-year-old Tobermory was allowed to spend the last three years of its long maturation period in ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
Light and fruity aromas are perceived on the palate. Notes of dried fruit, orange, vanilla and toffee are also present. On the palate, it is balanced and slightly spicy with citrus fruits, caramel and oak notes.
