The House of Tomintoul produces a number of very elegant whiskeys. This whiskey can clearly be seen that it was stored in bourbon barrels and sherry barrels.
The Tomintoul 16 year old whiskey from the Highlands, Highlands of Scotland, is not a premium whiskey full of level and depth, but it really has a lot to offer.
This whiskey is perfectly balanced and smooth with notes of hazelnuts and a hint of fresh oranges. Its aroma is reminiscent of fresh cakes and pastries fresh from the oven paired with grain notes. An undertone of hay is also noticeable on the nose. The taste is full, nutty and spicy. These nuances are accompanied by dried fruits and marzipan. Nutty and bitter sounds, such as coffee and chocolate with a nougat filling, are also noticeable. The finish is long and creamy with spices and light orange notes.
