Calvados is an amber-colored apple brandy from Normandy, France. The name of the drink is derived from its protected designation of origin, the "Département Calvados". For the production of calvados, the fresh apple cider is fermented into cider in a few weeks, there are a total of 48 different apple varieties.
"Calvados Boulard V.S.O.P." is created by mixing different 4- to 20-year-old Calvados Pays d’Auge. They are stored in the barrels until the perfect blend is achieved.
The apple brandy has a rich fruit bouquet with a hint of roasted nuts and brioche. In terms of taste, it is a nice harmony between vanilla, wood, compote and ripe apples. Thanks to its storage in small oak barrels, it has these great aromas. The finish is velvety, elegant and has a good balance of fruit and vanilla.
