Product Description

Prinz Enzian Schnaps is one of the classic Alpine specialties. For this root spirit, the roots of the yellow gentian are carefully macerated in alcohol after being harvested. After several weeks of maceration, the mash is distilled twice in a fine distillation process. The distillate is then matured for several years in different vessels such as glass balloons and stoneware, allowing the aromas to develop and harmonise fully.

On the nose, this gentian root schnaps reveals typical earthy and spicy notes. On the palate it shows a powerful character with aromatic, bitter nuances that are characteristic of traditional root spirits. The finish is long-lasting, intense and clean, with a dry, clearly defined profile.

Thanks to its pronounced bitterness and strong root aromatics, Prinz Enzian Schnaps is considered to have a digestive effect and is an excellent choice as a digestif after a hearty meal or as a special Alpine-style treat in between. Serve well chilled or at room temperature in a small schnaps glass to bring out the typical gentian notes at their best.
