Montecristo is next to Cohiba the best known and most valued Habanos brand. The name comes from the novel El Conde de Montecristo by Alejandro Dumas. All formats of the brand are characterized by a unique taste, characterized by strong roasted aromas such as coffee , Cocoa, and vanilla, paired with medium-strong, fruity-sweet tobacco taste.
Habanos, SA launches the line in 1935 under the Montecristo brand. Three new vitolas are added to the brand's regular portfolio. This is the premium offer from the legendary Habanos brand. Two of the three vitolas are unpublished in the Habanos portfolio: Maltés (53 x 133 mm) and Dumas (49 x 130 mm), while Leyenda (55 x 165 mm) is the format of the Montecristo special edition adopts 80th anniversary, launched on a limited scale in 2015 to commemorate the eighty years since the brand was born.
