How is a cigar brand born? Sometimes in the most unexpected ways, as the emergence of the Gilbert brand shows. The story “The Pope of Geneva” by Thomas Brunnschweiler provides the model for the Gilbert de Montsalvat brand. One gloomy Sunday, Raymondo Bernasconi read the story and was initially deeply saddened. The hero of the story could neither smell nor taste anything. But maybe that was exactly the message: trust your own judgment, don't listen to cigar popes! Inspired by the story, Mr. Bernansconi decided to name his brand after the hero.
The "Gilbert" is manufactured in one of Nicaragua's most renowned factories by Torcedores with many years of professional experience. It is a hand-rolled long-filler premium cigar with excellent workmanship on the wrapper. All types of tobacco used were stored for several years and composed in such a way that the cigar meets the demands of aficionados. With its slightly nutty taste it knows how to delight, and its aroma, which is gentle by Nicaraguan standards, sets it apart from what we have known before. The “Gilbert” is a personality of her own!
