Sandeman is a brand of port and sherry wines founded in 1790 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
Sandeman 10 Year Old Tawny Port is a mature port wine from Portugal with 20% vol. This bottling comes from the Douro region and is produced using the traditional port wine method.
The tawny matures in oak casks in Sandeman's historic lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. According to the producer, the final blend is made from selected wines between 9 and 12 years old to preserve the typical character of this 10 year old tawny port.
On the nose, it shows ripe fruit, jam, nuts, vanilla and raisins. On the palate, Sandeman 10 Year Old Tawny is full bodied, smooth and aromatic with notes of dried fruit, nuts, sweet oak and fine vanilla.
The finish is long, pleasant and persistent. Sandeman 10 Year Old Tawny Port is well suited slightly chilled as a dessert wine, with strong blue cheese, nut based desserts, tarte tatin, ice cream, fig pudding or simply neat after a meal.
