Aberlour is a whiskey distillery in Charlestown of Aberlour, Speyside. The current owner is Chivas Brothers Ltd. for Pernod Ricard, France.
Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba Batch 007 is a cask strength single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside. This bottling shows the bright, fruit driven side of the A'Bunadh range and focuses on American oak and bourbon cask maturation rather than sherry cask character.
The name Alba refers to Quercus Alba, the American white oak used for the casks. Alba is also the Gaelic name for Scotland. Batch 007 was bottled at a powerful 58.9% vol., giving the whisky an intense, dense and aromatic profile.
On the nose, it shows sweet notes of green apple, juicy pear, honey, vanilla cream and fresh lemon zest. On the palate, the whisky is powerful and creamy with citrus freshness, baked apple, buttery shortbread, vanilla, light fruit and a hint of sugared almonds.
The finish is smooth, sweet and lingering with toasted almonds and fine cask spice. Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba Batch 007 is best enjoyed neat for a powerful whisky moment or with a few drops of water to open the cask strength.
