Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 7 Year Old 2014 Islay Barley is a heavily peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich Distillery. This bottling shows the typical Port Charlotte character with bold smoke, clear provenance and a fine connection of fruit, malt and cask spice.

The whisky was made with barley from eight local farms on Islay. All farms are located within around 15 miles of the distillery. This makes the bottling a strong expression of transparency, local origin and the island's influence on the whisky.

The whisky is peated to 40 PPM and matured in a combination of first fill bourbon casks, second fill virgin oak and second fill Bordeaux wine casks. This creates malty biscuit notes, peat smoke, apricot, peach, ripe melon, sweet oak and a fine wine cask touch.

On the palate, Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is powerful, smoky and fruity at the same time. Peat, maritime notes, malt, bright stone fruit, vanilla, oak and light spices combine in an intense Islay whisky with balanced depth.

The finish is long, smoky, warm and fruit driven. Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 7 Year Old 2014 Islay Barley is well suited for drinking neat or with a few drops of water to open the smoke, fruit and cask notes further.
