The distillery was built in 1897 and was originally called Strathspey. When the owners went bankrupt, A. P. Blyth bought the distillery for his son and renamed it Dalwhinnie. This Highland Scotch is matured at Scotland’s highest distillery, where the old traditions have been preserved. For example, no other distillery is allowed to use the water from Lochan an Doire Uaine, located at an altitude of 600 metres in the Drumochter Hills. This blend of tradition and a wild, cold origin creates a whisky that is clear and easy to enjoy, with a malty, sweet Character.

The Dalwhinnie Distiller's Edition from the 1996 vintage, bottled in 2012, pairs the distillery’s classic Highland style with extra depth from an Oloroso sherry cask finish.

  • Nose: Honey and malt with bright fruit notes, joined by hints of dried fruit and gentle sweet spice.
  • Palate: Smooth and rounded, showing sherried fruit, grape notes, subtle spice and balanced sweetness.
  • Finish: Lingering and softly warming, with a harmonious sherry touch.
