Glenfarclas is a whiskey distillery in Ballindalloch, Moray, Scotland, UK. Glenfarclas has been owned and managed by only one family, the Grants of Glenfarclas, since 1865. Glenfarclas whiskeys are made almost exclusively in former sherry casks (Oloroso There is a very large range of different bottlings from the distillery itself. There is hardly any other distillery that has as many high quality and old whiskeys in their storage as Glenfarclas.
"" Glenfarclas 105 "" proof refers to the old measure used to indicate alcohol content. 3–400 years ago, alcohol was mixed with gunpowder and set on fire to prove to the customer that whiskey was made. If the mixture exploded it was proven to be whiskey. 100 was the highest value at which the mixture still exploded. Today we use "alc.Vol" and 105 corresponds to 60% alc / vol.
Lively aromas of oak, apples and pears with a pleasant sweetness rise into the nose, as well as notes of seductive sweetness of dark caramel. It has a dry, malty, slightly oily and oaky character, with a rich spice and a hint of oak. You can also feel the strong sherry influence directly.
