Glenfiddich is a whiskey distillery near Dufftown in the former county of Banffshire in Scotland. Glenfiddich is one of Scotland's largest single malt producers. With the help of his nine children and a mason, William Grant fulfills his lifelong dream of building a distillery, which he names Glenfiddich, after the nearby Valley of the Deer. After just one year, on Christmas Eve 1887, the first drop of whiskey flowed from the copper stills.
Glenfiddich 18 Year Old Port Cask is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. This travel retail bottling matured for 18 years and was finished in port wine casks. It combines the fruity Glenfiddich character with sweet, dark cask notes.
On the nose, it shows ripe fruits, red berries, raspberry jam, caramel apple and toasted almonds. Vanilla, soft oak and fine sweetness from the port cask finish add further depth.
On the palate, the whisky is rich, rounded and fruity with notes of sticky raspberry jam, caramel apple, red fruits, sweet oak and toasted almonds. The port cask finish adds extra depth and a pleasantly fruity sweetness.
The finish is smooth, warm and balanced with fruit, almonds, caramel and fine cask spice. The gift pack also makes this bottling a fitting choice for whisky lovers and collectors of special Glenfiddich editions.
