Glenmorangie is a whiskey distillery in Tain in the Northern Highlands of Scotland and probably one of the most famous whiskey distilleries. The malt used in the production is unpeated so that no smoke aromas detract from the mild fruity character of the Glenmorangie whiskey. The distillery uses Mainly American oak barrels. First, the raw spirit is filled in (mostly first fill) bourbon barrels for 10 years. Then the whiskey is decanted into bourbon barrels, sherry barrels, port pipes or Sauternes barrels for the finish. Glenmorangie achieves a great variability in the whiskey range.
Glenmorangie The Original 12 Years is a welcoming Highland single malt from Tain. Aged for 12 years in bourbon casks, it combines creamy vanilla with fresh citrus and ripe peach.
The nose shows citrus and ripening peaches with gentle vanilla. On the palate, vanilla leads, then opens into flowery fruitiness with hints of honey. The finish is medium in length, fruity and soft.
